<span>Washington trusted both of them and they were both capable leaders & brilliant thinkers. Also, they were both experts at what they did. Alexander Hamilton was an expert with financial issues, so he was apart of the Department of Treasury, and Jefferson had good relations with foreign places, so he was apart of the Department of State.
