The following is a way the Student, Alive and Reasons sections of the North Star works:

The Student section: Here, the student writes down his goals for the next quarter or semester. Such goals must be achievable.

The Alive section: In this section, the student writes out certain activities which he will engage in within the period of his student goals which will keep him energetic and happy. This section is important because it's a goal driver and motivator which will energize the student in achieving the goals set in the Student section. Such activities may be writing, dancing, engaging in challenges, traveling, etc.

The Reasons section: In this section, the student states his reasons (the WHY) for accomplishing the goals set in the Student section. These reasons serve as a motivation. He describes WHY he wants to do the things he has put down in his North, Student, and Alive sections.
