Bone marrow transplant involves infusion of healthy HSCs (hematopoetic stem cells) to recipient from donor's blood to treat life-threatening conditions.

In patients, affected with leukemia, chemotherapy is done with or without radiation to kill unhealthy, cancerous cells.

To replace these damaged cells, a donor is matched that can donate his bone marrow cells to the patient.

Once the donor is found, a sample from his bone marrow is transplanted to the bloodstream of patient, from where these cells migrate to his bone marrow and make new healthy blood cells.
