Answer: 58 ft × 58 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length of the region = x feet

And, the width of the region = y feet

Since, the perimeter of the region = 234 feet ( Given )

⇒ 2(x+y) = 234

⇒ x+y = 117

⇒ y = 117 - x

Again the area of the region, A = xy

⇒ A(x) = x(117-x)

⇒ A(x) = 117x - x^2

By differentiating the above equation with respect to x,

⇒ A'(x) = 117 - 2x

For maxima or minima,

A'(x) = 0

\implies 117 - 2x = 0

\implies -2x = -117

\implies x = 58.5

Again differentiating equation A'(x) with respect to x,

We get, A''(x) = -2

Hence, For x = 58.5 A''(x) = negative

⇒ For x = 58.5 feet the area A(x) is maximum,

⇒ The length of the region having maximum area = x = 58.5 feet

And, the width of the region having maximum area = y = 117-x= 117 - 58.5=58.5 feet,

⇒ The dimension of the region having the maximum area = 58.5 ft × 58.5 ft

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Lets suppose the area to be enclosed is a square and let the side be s.

The perimeter would be 234 feet.

Perimeter of square is = 4 x side

We get;

4s=234

Dividing both sides by 4;

s = 58.5 feet

Now, area of the square = side x side

So, the maximum area that can be enclosed is = 58.5\times58.5=3422.25 square feet

Hence, the dimensions will be 58.5 feet by 58.5 feet.

Find the surface area of the prism 12in 4 in 3in 5in 5in 6in
Mamont248 [21]

Answer:

Area of trapezoid:

12 + 6<-- your two bases of the trapezoid = 18

18 x 4 = 72, 72 divided by 2 = 36

now we multiply by 2 since there are 2 trapezoids:

36 x 2 = 72

Area of rectangle in front:

6 x 3 = 18

Area of the 2 rectangles on the sides:

5 x 3 = 15

(multiply by 2 since there are two rectangles on both sides)

15 x 2 = 30

Area of rectangle on the back:

12 x 3 = 36

Now lets add up all the areas:

72 + 18 + 30 + 36 = 156 in2 is your answer.

Need help to write equations for 5, 6 & 7

6)
A quadratic function has the form
y = ax^2 + bx + c

Use point (3, 5) in the equation above:

5 = a(3^2) + 3b + c
5 = 9a + 3b + c
9a + 3b + c = 5     Equation 1

Use point (4, 3) in the equation above:

3 = a(4^2) + 4b + c
16a + 4b + c = 3    Equation 2

Use point (5, 3) in the equation above.

5 = a(5^2) + 5b + c
25a + 5b + c = 5       Equation 3.

Now solve the system of equations of equations 1, 2, and 3 to find the coefficients, a, b, and c.

9a + 3b + c = 5
16a + 4b + c = 3
25a + 5b + c = 5

Subtract the first equation from the second equation.
Subtract the second equation from the third equation.
You get
7a + b = -2
9a + b = 2

Subtract the first equation above from the second equation to get.
2a = 4
a = 2

Substitute:
7a + b = -2
7(2) + b = -2
b = -16

9a + 3b + c = 5
9(2) + 3(-16) + c = 5
18 - 48 + c = 5
c - 30 = 5
c = 35

The equation in standard form is

y = 2x^2 - 16x + 35

We can find it in vertex form:

y = 2(x^2 - 8x) + 35

y = 2(x^2 - 8x + 16) + 35 - 32

y = 2(x - 4)^2 + 3
