You could say 46/60 (both of these fractions can be reduced), but we can find a fraction between 45/60 and 46/60, namely 91/120.  And we can find another between 45/60 and 91/120, and so on ad infinitum.

To answer your question, there is no next fraction.  Infinitely many may be found between any two.

The local newspaper has letters to the editor from 60 people. If this number represents 5% of all of
uysha [10]
The newspaper has 1200 readers because if 60 people is only 5%

if you divide 95 by 5 it is 19. 19 times 60 equals 1140. 1140 plus 60 equals 1200. 5% of 1200 is 60.

Movies at the rental store are $3.75 each. Snacks and drinks are $1.89 each. Round each amount to the nearest dollar to estimate
hodyreva [135]

Answer:

$14.00

Step-by-step explanation:

First you round 3.75 to 4.00 because 7 is greater than 5 so it would turn the 3 to 4 than add the zeros it's 4.00. Second You multiply by three so 4.00 × 3 you will get 12.00. Than you round 1.89 to 2.00 because 8 is greater than 5 so it would turn to the 1 to the 2 than add the zeros it's 2.00. Finally you add them together and get $14.00

BlackZzzverrR [31]

Answer:

x = 25

Step-by-step explanation:

x : (x+10) = 5:7

Fractional form

x / x+10 = 5/7

Cross multiply:

x * 7 = (x+10) * 5

7x = 5x + 50

7x - 5x = 5x + 50 - 5x

2x = 50

x = 25

Check:

25 : 25 + 10

25 : 35

25/35 = 5/7

One number is 6 more than twice another. If their sum is 51, find the numbers.
joja [24]

Answer:

y=2x+6 ; x+y=51

Step-by-step explanation:

assuming x is one number and y is the other -

one number (y) is 6 more (+6) than twice another (2x) -

using that knowledge we form an equation -

y=2x+6

the sum (x+y) is 51

using this knowledge we can make the equation -

x+y=51

now you have -

y=2x+6 or 2x-y=-6

x+y=51

using system of equations -

you add the equations -

3x=45

x=15

y=51-x => y=36

hope this helps!!
