The correct answer is D.

During the industrial revolution era that took place mostly during the 19th century, most developed countries industrialized. One of the pillars on which such process was based, were the cheap raw materials that were extracted in the colonies and brought to the mother country, where they were used in production processes to manufacture products and services cheaply. Afterwards, those products were sold in the home country and all over the world (including on the same colonies where the inputs had come from).

Current developing countries were colonies of current developed nations during the industrialization era.

The answer D.) is False. Many underdeveloped nations (The entire African continent, for example), has a long past of being colonized by Europe. (Rush for Africa.) That's actually the main reason their growth was stifled in the first place.

Why did the United Nations have difficulty in drafting a definition of terrorism
Radda [10]

Answer:

B. The characteristics of terrorism are hard to define.

Explanation:

(Check for photo proof at the bottom.)

Terrorism dates back all the way to the 1700's. Since then, the acts and reasons behind terrorism has changed over the centuries. The word derives from the French Revolution at the end of the 18th century. In 1798, the Académie Française, the French council for matters pertaining to the French language, defined terrorism for the first time; it meant a “system or rule of terror.” In the 1800's, terrorism changed from it's initial definition. The 19th century was a period when nationalist movements broke out across Europe. They mostly involved violent attacks against the government to achieve political goals, such as assassination of political figures. In the 1900's and 2000's, terrorist attacks mostly involved targeting civilians and using religious reasons to justify their actions. Starting in the 1960s, the United Nations held several meetings aimed at defining terrorist acts. However, because terrorism was used for very different reasons, certain countries refused to universally outlaw its use. To this day, world leaders struggle to define terrorism.

What events and developments between 1945 and 1952 generated massive anxieties and challenges to American postwar confidence des
kow [346]

Answer:

Most of the anxieties during the period between 1945 and 1952 are related to communism, the Soviet Union, and the Cold War.

Explanation:

After World War II, two countries dominated world affairs: The United States, which favored capitalism and a market economy, and the Soviet Union, which favored communism, and a planned economy. These two countries had been allies during World War II, but once the war ended, they became enemies.

The U.S. had spectacular economic growth during the 1940s and 1950s, however, the Soviet Union also progressed, and it managed to detonate its own atomic bomb in 1949. This caused great anxiety in the U.S. because it meant that the enemy now had a lethal weapon that could cause deadly damage.

Another anxiety factor was the first proxy war between the Soviet Union and the United States: the Korean War, which lasted from 1950 to 1953.
