Well, since she bought 3.42 pounds of green apples, then you can subtract 3 lbs off of that, so she bought .42 lbs of green apples, and 2.19 lbs red apples
So now, you just need to add .42 and 2.19
.42 + 2.19 = 2.61, so she has 2.61 lbs of apples left
