Your first steps are correct.  Mult. the given fraction by (1+sqrt(5)) / (1+sqrt(5)).

Result:  8(1 + sqrt(5) )       8(1 + sqrt(5) )
             ------------------- = ----------------------
                 1 - 5                         -4

Must keep that denominator (-4).
