The summary is that this person was advocating that the black man endures the stereotypes and segregation for a while and concentrate their efforts on self help.

Since then there has being great changes in segregation. Schools have become accepting to all and no one is excluded from systems based on their race in America.

The work ethic has remained strong since then. People have learnt more skills for survival and more people have being educated.
