Answer:

He left the theatre, and was emotionally scarred

Explanation:

According to his own journals, he attended a live operation on a child and left before it was complete. He said "This is was long before the blessed days of chloroform..." he never attended again and was emotionally scarred by the screams and the gore of the scene. It was famously a turning point in his views, he didnt understand how anyone could send their loved one under the surgeons knife without any form of numbing. He was also terrified at the sight of blood.

What were the typical jobs and who could have them on the Tokugawa period?
leva [86]

Answer:

The Neo-Confucian theory that dominated Japan during the Tokugawa Period recognized only four social classes–warriors (samurai), artisans, farmers and merchants–and mobility between the four classes was officially prohibited. With peace restored, many samurai became bureaucrats or took up a trade. At the same time, they were expected to maintain their warrior pride and military preparedness, which led to much frustration in their ranks. For their part, peasants (who made up 80 percent of the Japanese population) were forbidden from engaging in non-agricultural activities, thus ensuring consistent income for landowning authorities.

The Japanese economy grew significantly during the Tokugawa period. In addition to an emphasis on agricultural production (including the staple crop of rice as well as sesame oil, indigo, sugar cane, mulberry, tobacco and cotton), Japan’s commerce and manufacturing industries also expanded, leading to the rise of an increasingly wealthy merchant class and in turn to the growth of Japanese cities. A vibrant urban culture emerged centered in Kyoto, Osaka and Edo (Tokyo), catering to merchants, samurai and townspeople rather than to nobles and daimyo, the traditional patrons. The Genroku era (1688-1704) in particular saw the rise of Kabuki theater and Bunraku puppet theater, literature (especially Matsuo Basho, the master of haiku) and woodblock printing.

Write a clear and organised summary that analysts people’s living conditions in the Middle Ages
shepuryov [24]

Answer: The living conditions of the people in the Middle Ages were poor.

Explanation:

The feudal system, which was organized so that the largest number belonged to the lowest social class, caused the serfs a terrible situation in society. Living conditions for most Middle Ages (except kings, landowners, and church leaders) were difficult. Primarily people were deficient in lack of food. Through the feudal system, most received as much as was enough to survive. Hygienic conditions were terrible; there was no sewage infrastructure, so an unbearable stench spread from most cities. In such circumstances, various epidemics broke out that decimated the European population.
