Which equation represents a line parallel to the graph of 2x-4y=16

Mathematics

First we need to isolate the y in the equation
-4y=16-2x (subtract the 2x)
4y=2x-16 (divide both sides by -1)
y=1/2x-4 (divide both sides by 4)

The we know the slope of this line is 1/2. I'm not sure what the choices are, but the answer would have to have a slope of 1/2. For example, y=1/2x+2 might be an answer.

Hope this helps

Start by isolation the Y part.

2x-4y=16
-2x       -2x

-4y=16-2x

then divide both sides by negative 4 to get y completely by its self

-4y=16-2x
---    --------
-4       -4

you will get

y= -4+1/2x

that is your answer

If two events a and b are independent and you know that p(a) = 0.70, what is the value of p(a | b)?
Afina-wow [57]
Hello :
note 1 :
p(A|B) = p(A∩B)/ p(B)....(1)

note 2 :
A and B independent: p(A∩B) = p(A)×p(B)......(2)
subsct in (1) :  p(A|B) = p(A∩B)/ p(B)
                                   =  (p(A)×p(B))/p(B)
    p(A|B) = p(A) = 0.70

The perimeter of a rectangle is equal to the sum of its sides.If the length of a a rectangle is twice its width and the perimete
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer: the width of the rectangle

= 31feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

Perimeter of a triangle = 2( l + b)

let the width = xfeet

The length = 2x feet.

Substitute for this in the equation above,

2( 2x + x ) = 186

2(3x) = 186

Divide by 2 through

3x = 93

Divide by 3

x = 31feet. Therefore, the width of the rectangular = 31feet.

Check.

Since the length is twice the width,

L = 31 x 2

= 62feet.

Put that into the formula above

2( 62 + 31 )

2 x 93

= 186 which is the perimeter of the rectangle.

Line segment GH is divided by point J in the ratio of 1:4. Endpoint G is at (7,5) and point J is at (10, 14).
wlad13 [49]

Answer:

(x2 , y2) = (22,50)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

m1 : m2 = 1:4

(x1 , y1) = (7 , 5)

(X ,Y) = (10 ,14)

Find:

(x2 , y2)

Computation:

X = (m1x2 + m2x1) / (m1+m2)

10 = [(1)(x2) + (4)(7)]/(1+4)

10 = [x2 + 28]/5

22 = x2

Y = (m1y2 + m2y1) / (m1+m2)

14 = [(1)(y2) + (4)(5)]/(1+4)

14 = [y2 + 20]/5

70 = y2 + 20

50 = y2

(x2 , y2) = (22,50)

Which expression is equivalent to 42+90?
MrRissso [65]

Step-by-step explanation:

42+90 can be written in many ways.

Fore example, it can be written with double negatives, or even commutative property.

42-(-90) or 90+42

(21x2)+(45x2) or (6x7)+(3x30)

Sorry if it's wrong...
