Astronauts visiting planet x have a 250-cm-long string whose mass is 5.00 g. they tie the string to a support, stretch it horizo

ntally over a pulley 2.00 m away, and hang a 4.00 kg mass on the free end. then, the astronauts begin to excite standing waves on the horizontal portion of the string. their data are as follows:

The solution for this problem is:
v = sqrt(T/µ) where T = m*g = 4*g and µ = 0.0055/2.5 = 0.0022kg/m
Now L = 2 m
For a string the frequencies are n*v/2L
so n*v/2L = 64 and (n+1)*v/2L = 80
Now eqn 2 divided by eqn 1 yields (n + 1)/n = 80/64 = 1.25
=> 1.25 n = n + 1 or .25n = 1 or n = 4
now subbing back into eqn 1 we have 4*v/2L = 64 or v = 32*L = 32*1.9 = 60.8
So 60.8= sqrt(1.1*g/0.0022)
so 1.1*g = 60.8^2*0.0022 = > g = 60.8^2*0.0022/1.1 = 7.39 m/s^2

Which chart correctly describes the properties of electric and magnetic fields?
Serjik [45]
<span>Both electric and magnetic fields exert body forces, meaning they act from a distance. The like charges and poles in both repel; positive charge repels positive and the north pole repels the north pole. For both, the opposite poles/charges attract. Finally, only magnetic fields have poles, and there are two poles, namely the south and north, so they are dipolar. The diagram that represents all of this information correctly is the third.</span>

The rate (in cubic feet per hour) that a spherical snowball melts is proportional to the snowball's volume raised to the 2/3 pow
Darina [25.2K]

Answer:

A 3 feet radius snowball will melt in 54 hours.

Explanation:

As we can assume that the rate of  snowball takes to melt is proportional to the surface area, then the rate for a 3 feet radius will be:

T= A(3 ft)/A(1 ft) * 6 hr

A is the area of the snowballs. For a spherical geometry is computing as:

A=4.pi.R^2

Then dividing the areas:

A(3 feet)/A(1 foot) = (4 pi (3 ft)^2)/(4 pi (1 ft)^2) =  (36pi ft^2)/(4pi ft^2)= 9

Finally, the rate for the 3 feet radius snowball is:

T= 9 * 6 hr = 54 hr

An electron is a negatively charged particle that has a charge of magnitude, e - 1.60 x 10-19 C. Which one of the following stat
irina [24]

Explanation:

The charge on the electron is, q=-1.6\times 10^{-19}\ C

The electric field at a distance r from the electron is :

E=k\dfrac{q}{r^2}

Where

k is the electrostatic constant, k=\dfrac{1}{4\pi \epsilon_o}

We know that the electric field lines starts from positive charge and ends at the negative charge. Also, for a positive charge the field lines are outwards while for a negative charge the field lines are inwards.

So, the correct option is " the  electric field is directed toward the electron and has a magnitude of k\dfrac{q}{r^2}. Hence, this is the required solution.
