1. i did volunteer work back in High school because i felt that my life was not fulfilled by just being a student. I was helping my mother, who is in a charity organization to raise funds for a Christmas party for children at an orphanage. My tasks were to talk to other parents to donate money for a cause.

2. In my opinion, it is important to volunteer so that we can help change the environment. If each of us would participate at one environmental event per year with the goal to have a cleaner planet, we would have one! For example, each spring I go to an event called “Let’s do this, (insert city name)”. At this event, volunteers clean a designated area in their city. Last year, for example, we cleaned a river that was clogged because there were a lot of garbage thrown in the river.

Read the excerpt from chapter 10 of Animal Farm.
USPshnik [31]

Answer:

The reader knows that Mr. Pilkington is praising a flawed and brutal system.

Explanation:

Dramatic irony is when the audience or readers know something about the scene and would expect it to happen which the characters in the story or scene seem to have no idea. The speech and behavior of the characters will contradict the upcoming event, which the readers or viewers can predict but not by the characters in the story.

In the given excerpt from chapter 10 from “Animal Farm” by George Orwell, we see Mr. Pilkington give a speech about how much he and his human friends have regarded the way Animal Farm was run by Napoleon. He is seen praising the brutal system that was the basis of how the farm was run and also promised that he along with his fellow humans will institute the same system in their own farms. And through his speech, we as readers, know that Mr. Pilkington was praising a system that is both brutal and flawed.

What do Nick and Gatsby have in common?
goldfiish [28.3K]

Answer:

One last obvious thing these two men have in common is the fact that they both served in the First World War and they both went to good schools. Nick went to Yale, with Tom, before he went to fight in WW1. And as mentioned, even though he did not go for long, Gatsby went to Oxford right after he had served in WW1.
