A desire for glory and riches. Ulysses only had to blind the Cyclops because he was being rude and stole all of their cheese and expected the monsters to shower him with riches. I dunno about you, but if I was that Cyclops I would have been pretty mad too, no wonder they tried to eat him! Long story short, Ulysses was mean.

Answer:

The best answer from the options to the question: Which of these flaws does Ulysses reveal while leaving the island after blinding the Cyclops, would be: A desire for glory.

Explanation:

In the "Odyssey" by Homer, when Odysseus and his crew are finally able to escape the cyclops Polyphemus, instead of Odysseus simply counting his blessing for having escaped danger with his life, and that of his crewmembers, being content with the feat of having blinded such a terrifying and savage being as a cyclops, he also decides to insult him, despite the pleas from his men, and the only thing he feels remorse for is that the cyclops did not know his name, the name of the person who had accomplished something so huge. He used trickery, and artifices to best the cyclops, but Odysseus reveals his terrible pride, and desire for glory, when he feels sorry that such a giant will not know Odysseu´s name.

2) Examine each of the following topics. Determine if the topic is too broad, too narrow, or appropriate for the research essay.
fenix001 [56]

 1. The history of manned space flight: The topic is appropriate for research because it is specific and will find almost the same information in every source you consult.
 2. Breeds of dogs in the Westminster Dog Show: The topic is too narrow which might make the research a little empty (with not too much information).
 3. The history of domestic animals (house pets): The topic is too broad and the research might not be focused but too general.
 4. The results of Project Genome: The topic is appropriate for research because it is relevant and specific
 5. The formation of cumulonimbus clouds: The topic is too narrow and might make the research empty/flat and lacking in relevance
 6. The results of the Battle of Gettysburg: The topic is appropriate for research because it is historically relevant.

EXTRA INFO:

When you start developing a specific topic, the main problem you may face is having a topic that is too narrow or too broad.

Your topic is too narrow when you find very little information about it

Your topic is too broad when you find too many sources or too much information that it might not even be focused but too general.

And when your topic is appropriate it is when you find the important and needed information or you could also narrow a topic that is too broad.

Hope this answer helps you! Have a great day.
