Commercial aircraft used for flying in instrument conditions are required to have two independent radios instead of one. Assume

that for a typical flight, the probability of a radio failure is 0.00260.0026. What is the probability that a particular flight will be safe with at least one working radio? Why does the usual rounding rule of three significant digits not work here? Is this probability high enough to ensure flight safety?

Answer:

We are given that Commercial aircraft used for flying in instrument conditions are required to have two independent radios instead of one.

The probability of failure of one radio = 0.0026

So, the probability of failure of both radio =0.0026 \times 0.0026=0.00000676

Now we are supposed to find  the probability that a particular flight will be safe with at least one working radio

A) the probability that a particular flight will be safe with at least one working radio = 1- 0.00000676=0.99999324

B)The usual rounding rule of three significant digits not work here because usual rounding rule of three significant digits makes it 1 which means that both radios are working properly.

C)Yes,this probability is high enough to ensure flight safety because it is close to 1

Name a decimal between 0.4 and 0.5
Aliun [14]

To find a number between both decimals, what you can do is take the average of both numbers.

We have then:

average = \frac{0.4+0.5}{2}

Rewriting we have:

average = \frac{0.9}{2} \\average = 0.45

Therefore, the decimal obtained is a number between 0.4 and 0.5

Answer:

a decimal between 0.4 and 0.5 is:

average = 0.45

A stadium has 48,000 seats. Seats sell for $25 in Section A, $20 in Section B, and $15 in Section C. The number of seats in
Ira Lisetskai [31]
I had a super-ugly equation that didn’t work, but it got me close. (24,000/12,000/12,000 or so)
Then I adjusted the numbers to make the money work.

I’m sorry I can’t help more.

24,000(25) + 14,200(20) + 9,800(15)
= 600,000 + 284,000 + 147,000 = 1,031,000

Section A = 24,000 seats
Section B = 14,200 seats
Section C = 9,800 seats

14,200 + 9,800 = 24,000 seats

Answer:

2.58\ more\ nuts\ Miguel\ uses\ than\ raisins.

Step-by-step explanation:

Nuts\ used=5\frac{1}{3}\\\\Nuts\ used=\frac{16}{3}

Raisins\ used=2\frac{3}{4}\\\\Raisins\ used=\frac{11}{4}

difference\ between\ nuts\ and\ raisin=\frac{16}{3}-\frac{11}{4}=\frac{64-33}{12}=\frac{31}{12}\approx 2.58
