A. When you're doodling, you lose focus because usually you'll try to put skills and techniques into your doodle.
B. Thinking about the future can completely distract you from almost anything. You stop hearing and you stop seeing. It as if everything in your senses are gone until you refocus. This is basically zoning out.
C. Looking at other people in the audience can cause someone or something to catch your attention and distract you.
D. Some people will stare at their hands to feel less anxiety. Unless you begin thinking of something else, staring at your hands is the only option that will help you avoid being distracted by people, things around the speaker/actors, etc. D is your answer.

Llana [10]

The first use of the phrase is matter-of-fact. In the second stanza, the statement is followed by a period, which shows resignation. However, at the end of the poem, Dunbar almost shouts the phrase defiantly. The mask seems to become something he wears proudly. Through this gradual emphasis on the phrase, Dunbar could be implying that African Americans used the "mask" to hide their suffering and gain a kind of victory against society.

Why did jack leave in chapter one of the graveyard book?
Mumz [18]

Answer:

He'll have to make contact with certain townspeople who will tell him if the boy turns up. There's still plenty of time, many years, for Jack to complete his mission and kill the baby. When he hears the police sirens coming to the house where he did his dark work, he walks off, his big knife in his pocket.
