"You" ran faster. 3 1/2 mi. turn into 3 5/10 mile. 1 2/5 mi. turn into 1 4/10 mile. 3/4 of an hour is 45 min. 1/3 of an hour is 20 min. Therefore you multiply 1 4/10 times 2 to get 2 8/10 mi. in 40 min. Since your friend needs 5 more min. to be at the same time as you, you divide 20 (1/3 of an hour) by 4. Which gives you 5 minutes. Now, take the 1 2/5 of the mile. and divide that by 4. Which according to Symbolab.com gives you 1/10. Now go back to the beginning, you ran 3 5/10 mi. in 45 minutes. Your friend ran 2 8/10 in 40 min. Now that we know 5 min. equals 1/10 miles, you can add that to your friend. which means she/he ran 2 9/10 mi. in 45 min. In conclusion, you ran farther that your friend in 45 min. "You" ran faster. (:

.At a certain animal shelter, the ratio of puppies to adult dogs is 7 to 4. This week there are a total of55 dogs in the shelter
Advocard [28]

Answer:

There are 35 adult dogs and 20 puppies

<em></em>

Step-by-step explanation:

<em>Represent the puppies with P and the Adult dogs with A</em>

Given

A : P = 7 : 4

Dogs = 55

Required

Determine A and P

First, we need to sum the ratios;

Total = A + P

Total = 7 + 4

Total = 11

Adult Dogs is then calculated as follows;

A = \frac{A\ Ratio}{Total} * Dogs

A = \frac{7}{11} * 55

A = \frac{385}{11}

A = 35

Puppies is calculated by subtracting the number of adult dogs from the total

P = Dogs - Adult\ Dogs

P = 55 - 35

P = 20

<em>Hence;</em>

<em>There are 35 adult dogs and 20 puppies</em>

Each marble bag sold by Lucy's Marble Company contains 7 yellow marbles for every 5 green marbles. If a bag has 45 green marbles
Elan Coil [88]

Answer:

63 yellow marbles

Step-by-step explanation:

You can set up this equation as a proportion:

7/5 = x/45

Divide 45 by 5 to see what 7/5 must be multiplied by to get to x/45.

You should get 9, so also multiply 7 by 9 to get this:

7/5 = 63/45

This shows that there are 63 yellow marbles for 45 green marbles.
