Acetylene torches are used for welding. These torches use a mixture of acetylene gas, C2H2, and oxygen gas, O2 to produce the fo

llowing combustion reaction: 2C2H2(g)+5O2(g)→4CO2(g)+2H2O(g) Part A Imagine that you have a 7.00 L gas tank and a 4.00 L gas tank. You need to fill one tank with oxygen and the other with acetylene to use in conjunction with your welding torch. If you fill the larger tank with oxygen to a pressure of 155 atm , to what pressure should you fill the acetylene tank to ensure that you run out of each gas at the same time? Assume ideal behavior for all gases.

Answer:

The pressure in the acetylene tank should be 108.5 atm

Explanation:

Via the ideal gas law, we can calculate the unknow number of pressure.

Step 1: The balanced equation

2C2H2(g)+5O2(g)→4CO2(g)+2H2O(g)

This means for 2 moles of acetylene consumed, there is needed 5 moles of oxygen to produced 4 moles of carbon dioxide and 2 moles of water.

Step2: Data given:

V1 = volume of tank 1 = 7L

V2 = volume of tank 2 = 4L

P1 = pressure of tank 1 = 155 atm

P2= pressure of tank 2 = TO BE DETERMINED

n1 = moles of the oxygen tank = 5 moles

n2 = moles of the acetylene tank = 2 moles

Step 3: Calculate the pressure of the acetylene tank.

The ideal gas law says:

(P1*V1)/n1 = (P2*V2)/n2

To find the pressure P2 of the acetylene tank: P2 = (P1*V1 *n2)/ (n1*V2)

P2 = (155 atm * 7L *2moles)/(5moles * 4L) = 108.5 atm

The pressure in the acetylene tank should be 108.5 atm

Lerok [7]
The sum of all energies involved in breaking and or forming chemical bonds within the reactants side of the reaction is equal to the sum of all energies involved in the formation and rearranging of atoms within the product side of the chemical reaction.

The total energies of reactants = the total energies of products.

What is the total number of joules of heat needed to change 300 g of water to
Mandarinka [93]

Answer:

6.78 × 10⁵ J

Explanation:

Step 1: Given and required data

 • Mass of water (m): 300 g
 • Latent heat of vaporization of water (ΔH°vap): 2260 J/g

Step 2: Calculate the heat (Q) required to vaporize 300 grams of water

We will use the following expression.

Q = ΔH°vap × m

Q = 2260 J/g × 300 g

Q = 6.78 × 10⁵ J

6.78 × 10⁵ Joule will be required to convert 300 g of water to steam at 100 °C.

Using the accompanying chart, calculate the volume of a Densities of Group 14 Elements tin block that has a mass of 95.04 grams
saw5 [17]

Answer: The volume of given mas of tin block at STP is 13.0cm^3

Explanation:

To calculate volume of of the substance, we use the equation:

\text{Density of substance}=\frac{\text{Mass of substance}}{\text{Volume of substance}}

We are given:

Mass of tin = 95.04 g

Density of tin = 7.31g/cm^3

Putting values in above equation, we get:

7.31g/cm^3=\frac{95.04g}{\text{Volume of tin}}\\\\\text{Volume of tin}=\frac{95.04g}{7.31g/cm^3}=13.0cm^3

Hence, the volume of given mas of tin block at STP is 13.0cm^3

Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in Tylenol.
Tomtit [17]

Explanation:

a. Write the molecular formula of the compound.

Acetaminophen contains 8 carbon atoms, 9 Hydrogen atoms, 1 Nitrogen atom and 2 Oxygen atoms.

The molecular formular is given as; C8H9NO2

b. What is the hybridization state of each C, N, and O atom?

From the image attached;

All the carbon atoms in the benzene ring has hybridization of sp2.

The carbon that is doubly bonded (carbonyl) to the oxygen has hybridization of sp2

The last carbon to the right has hybridization of sp3

The hybridization of nitrogen in the compound is sp3 hbridized.

Oxygen atom in alcohol is sp3 hybridised

Oxgen in the carbonyl group is sp2 hybridized.
