Mathematics

To find the inequality in the graph, you would need to do 2 things.

1. Find the equation for the function, which can be in the form, y = mx + b.

This can be found out, by using the 2 points in the graph, to find the slope.

M = change in y coordiantes/change in x coordiantes.

Since the graph is to the left, it would have a negative slope.

Check : m = 5-1/0-3 =4/-3.

Next we need to find the y intercept which would be 5.

So y = -4/3x + 5.

2. Since all points that are to the left of the line are included, it would be less than the function.

Y < -4/3x + 5.

Check : pick any other point in the shaded region and plug into the equation to see if the left side equals the right side.

If the inequality is true.

Step-by-step explanation:

\text{Let}\ k:y=m_1x+b_1,\ l:y=m_2x+b_2\\\\l\ \perp\ k\iff m_1m_2=-1\to m_2=-\dfrac{1}{m_1}\\\\l\ \parallel\ k\iff m_1=m_2\\==========================\\\\\text{The slope-intercept form of an equation of a line:}\\\\y=mx+b\\\\m-slope\\b-y-intercept\\==========================\\\\\text{We have the equation of the line:}\ y=2x+17\to m_1=2.\\\\\text{Therefore}\ m_2=-\dfrac{1}{2}.\\\\\text{The equation of a line:}\ y=-\dfrac{1}{2}x+b,\ \text{wher}\ b\in\mathbb{R}.

In a flight of 600 km, an aircraft was slowed down due to bad weather. Its average speed for the trip was reduced by 200 km/hr a
emmainna [20.7K]

Answer:

the  duration of the flight be 1 hour

Step-by-step explanation:

The computation of the duration of the flight is shown below:

Let us assume the duration of the flight be x hours

Now the equation would be

600 ÷ x - 600 x + (1 ÷ 2) = 200

600 ÷ x - 1200 ÷ 2x + 1 = 200

x(2x + 1) = 3

2x² + x - 3 = 0

(2x + 3)(x - 1) = 0

x = 1 hour

hence, the  duration of the flight be 1 hour

The same is to be considered

"Without using a calculator" suggests you are supposed to have memorized the square roots of 2 and 3 to at least 3 decimal places. That is, you know

  • √2 ≈ 1.414
  • √3 ≈ 1.732

21. √8 = √(2²·2) = 2√2 ≈ 2.83 . . . . about 4/5 of the distance between 2 and 3

22. √75 = √(5²·3) = 5√3 ≈ 8.66 . . . about 2/3 of the distance between 8 and 9
