Answer:

The reasons that it was initially difficult for England to strictly control the American Colonies in the 1600’s were:

1. There were long-distance travels involved, with sea-crossing making these travels extremely hazardous.

2. The colonies were established as chartered companies, with the founding members legally granted the powers to establish and control colonies.

3. Back home, England was facing massive economic problems.  This means that some people leaving England for the colonies eased the economic hardships at home.

4. The purpose of the colonies was initially to open up economic markets for English goods and as a means of acquiring raw materials, especially gold.  This implies that total control was not the main purpose for establishing the colonies.

Explanation:

The establishment of the Colonies in the Americas was a means of expanding economic resources.  It was an adventure fraught with many difficulties.  The colonists fought the native Indians in order to dislodge them from the land.  Since these Indians were not accepted by the English, unlike the French and Spaniards who intermarried with the Indians, the Indians made life unbearable for the colonists.  This is compounded with the problem of living with people who practised Animism as a religion and acted as true barbarians.

Why do federal courts have a jurisdiction on disputes involving the states? Give an example of such a case
ddd [48]
I think that the federal courts rule over state disputes because there needs to be an unbiased third party making unbiased decisions, unbiased rulings. An example would be if California and Colorado disputed over rights of water to the Colorado River, the federal court would intervene.

THERE IS A FOOD SHORTAGE BECAUSE CARTHAGINIANS HAVE DESTROYED FARMLAND DURING THE PUNIC WARS. DEVELOP A LAW TO AID IN SOLVING TH
Archy [21]

I would pass a law that stops the waste of food, for example, I would stop the production of wine to save grapefruits for rationing. After passing that law, we would move the farmlands away from Cartaghe‘s borders to a more inner territory of Rome to avoid such raids to happen or if we don’t have enough funds to do it, we would prepare defenses at the Cartaghe‘s border to defend the farmlands from more attacks, after that, we would help the farmers find fertile land and rebuild their farms. After all of the farmlands have produced food, I would lift the law and return to our normal routine. In worst case scenarios, I would have tried to expand into more territories to find fertile land and make farms there.
