A basketball court is in a rectangular shape and the perimeter for a rectangle is the addition of each one of its sides or P= 2W + 2L (L= length & W= width). P=90 L = 2w+6 With the information provided your have to formulate the equation: 90=2W+2(2W+6) Then solve for W: First distribute the 2 90=2W + 4W + 12 Combine common factors 90 = 6W + 12 Subtract 12 from both sides 78 = 6W Divide 6 on both sides W=13 Now that you have your width, you can plug it into the equation to find the length (L=2W+6) 2(13) +6 =L 26 + 6 = L 32 = L You can always double check by making sure that the totals equal 90 for the perimeter 32+32+13+13=90 2(32) + 2(13) =90

the variable Z is invery proportional to X. when X is 3, Z has the value 6. what is the value of Z when X = 12
MrMuchimi

"inversely proportional," please.

z = k/x

When x is 3, z = 6; find k: 6 = k/3, or k = 18.

Then z = 18/x. When x = 12, z = 18/12 = 2/3 (answer)

Given the points J(4,-7) and L(-2,13), find the coordinates of point k on JL such that the ratio of jk is 1:4
Irina-Kira [14]

Answer:

The coordinates of point k are (-2.8,-3)

Step-by-step explanation:

we shall use the internal division formula to find the coordinates of point k

Mathematically, the formula is as follows;

Let’s call the coordinates of point k (x,y)

(x , y) = mx2 + nx1/(m + n) , my2 + ny1/(m + n)

From the question;

m = 1 , n = 4

x1 = 4, x2= -2

y1 = -7 , y2 = 13

Substituting these values in the equation, we have the following;

1(-2) + 4(4)/(1 + 4) , 1(13) + 4(-7)/(1+4)

(-2+16)/5, (13 -28)/5

= -14/5, -15/5

= (-2.8, -3)
