Ju-Lin is a young Chinese girl living in poverty with her family. When her family must sell her to make ends meet, a traditional Chinese matchmaker buys her to serve as her apprentice. When she got to the house, she was told “First when I am home, you must help me with the cooking and cleaning around the house. When I am traveling, you must accompany me to help carry mt things. In return, you shall have enough to eat and have a small allowance each month. Is that understood.” And after a bit of time Moi-Yun had some clients later that day Ju-Lin ask Moi-Yun “What is the secret of your amazing success, mistress?” Moi-Yun replied with “There is no magic to this Ju-Lin helping people make the right choice in a partner is my passion in life. As the story goes, even at birth, that old matchmaker, God in heaven, ties an invisible red string around the foot of a boy and a girl destined to spend their lives together as husband and wife. No matter the distance or the circumstances, nothing can break this string.” A cople of weeks passed by and a matron came and knocked on the door when Ju-Lin opened the door there was a disgruntled matron. He came inside he talked to Moi-Yun saying “my son is stubborn, and he will not take any women in marring. You should pay close attention, for I have gone through a lot of trouble to moment, but I shall be back shortly.” And she gave him advice and change his lower his expectations.

I think this story is trying to say never have to high requirements or you will not get what you want. I think that the way the story updates the character type or story pattern means you must change.

Is this an INDEPENDENT CLAUSE or a DEPENDENT CLAUSE? What I do. A. Independent clause B. Dependent clause
marissa [1.9K]

Answer:

According to the Purdue OWL, an independent clause is “a group of words that contains a subject and verb and expresses a complete thought.” A dependent clause is “a group of words that contains a subject and verb but does not express a complete thought.”

They have a subject - they tell the reader what the sentence is about.

They have an action or predicate - they tell the reader what the subject is doing.

They express a complete thought - something happened or was said.

WILL MARK AS BRAINLEST!!!
taurus [48]

Answer:

D

Explanation:

although i have not read the article, i can conclude from the keywords (grave & egyptian), that the answer is probably D.

the backstory behind my reasoning is that it's called a Grave Matter. that eliminates the possibility of answer 'A'. also, i believe we can eliminate C, because the name of the article makes me think otherwise. B is probably a contestant, but my choice (if i haven't read the article) would be D. please let me know if this works or not.

Read the excerpt from It's Our World, Too!: Young People Who Are Making a Difference. At 10:30, students from all grades packed
Evgesh-ka [11]

The author’s purpose in the above excerpt is to encourage readers to do something about what they believe in.

In the story, “It's Our World, Too!: Young People Who Are Making a Difference,” racism is at the heart of the problem. The purpose of writing the story was that he wanted to tell the readers about the ways the young people are working to bring change in the world. The story encourages the readers to act on their thoughts and beliefs. Though Neto was not supported by his coach and others, still he decided to take his stand.

I don't know what story this is from or what is really happening; however, from what I can tell, the author uses the phrase "the annals of parental vigilance" to heavily imply that Daisy's parents are extremely rigid in how they raise her, in an orthodox fashion. "Annals" is defined as yearly record keeping, and "parental vigilance" means that the mother is one that is always watching and correcting her child (from what I can tell.
