All the living forms initially were classified into five kingdom classification which includes: Monera (includes all prokaryotes), protista, fungi, plantae and animalia. Later several genetics and molecular biology studies revealed that a class of prokaryotes is different from all other modern bacteria, these were called archaebacteria. They live in extreme environments like volcanic hot springs, extreme salty or very acidic surroundings.

Archaebacteria is the right answer. 
They are currently known as Archaea, name"Archaebacteria" is a bit outdated. These unicellar prokaryotes were discovered relatively recent (in 70ties).
