Underdeveloped countries are those nations that are less developed economically than most others and in which poverty and unemployment rates are very high. Commonly, these nations also have a high rate of population growth, many people live in dire conditions with limited access to health care and education while a small fragment of the population is very wealthy; there is also wide corruption in almost all levels of government, and there is little industrial activity when compared to more developed nations.
Some Asian nations with these characteristics are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Cambodia. African countries include the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique, and Guinea, and some underdeveloped Latin American countries are Guyana and Bolivia.
