10m^2 of tiles cover a pool, the pool is shaped as a square, so all four edges are the same, and the depth is constant but not e

qual to the size of the side. what is the maximum volume?

Assume:

Size of sides = x m
Depth of the pool = y m

Therefore, surface area = x^2+4xy =10 m^2

Then, y = (10-x^2)/(4x)

Now,
Volume (V) = x^2*y = x^2*y =x^2(10-x^2)/4x = (10x-x^3)/4 = 1/4(10x-x^3)
For maximum volume, first derivative of volume function is equal to zero.
That is,
dV/dx =0 = 1/4(10-3x^2)
Then,
1/4(10-3x^2) = 0
10-3x^2 = 0
3x^2=10
x= sqrt (10/3) = 1.826 m
And
y= (10-1.826^2)/(4*1.826) = 0.913 m

Therefore,
V= 1.826^2*0.913 = 3.044 m^3

Which ratio forms a proportion with 18/27

a. 1/3
b. 2/5
c.2/3
d. 7/9
8090 [49]
If we simplify 18/27 by 9, the result is 2/3. We get this by dividing both the numerator and denominator by the greatest common factor of 9. So 2/3 has the same proportion as 18/27.

= 18/27
= (18÷9)/(27÷9)
= 2/3

ANSWER: C) 2/3

Hope this helps! :)

A boy walks 5 ķm at vkm/hr. He then cycles 15 km at 2v km/hr. In terms of v, write down the time taken in hours
Talja [164]

Answer:

The time when walking is 5/v hours

The walking speed is 4 26/31 km/hr

Step-by-step explanation:

Mathematically;

time = distance/speed

So the time taken when walking will be;

5/v

The time taken when cycling will be:

15/2v

The term 2h 35 minutes is same as 2 35/60

= 2 7/12

If we add the whole times together, we get 2 7/12

Thus;

5/v + 15/2v = 2 7/12

5/v + 15/2v = 31/12

(10 + 15)/2v = 31/12

25/2v = 31/12

12 * 25 = 2v * 31

31v = 6 * 25

v = 150/31

= 4 26/31
