If I understand right you want the inverse of H(x)

H(x)=x
y=x
to calculate the inverse, isolate x, which is already the case, switch x and y, which doesn't change anything and that is your new function
the inverse is the same function in this case

so H⁻¹(x)=x

Since it's H^-1(x), than just look at the H(x)=x section and do the following:

1) Substitute the x in the equation for the x from the H^-1(x) -

  H(x)= (x)

2) Next take the x out of the parentheses cause there's nothing to multiply it to:

   H(x)= x

3) x is your answer cause there's nothing else to do

Answer: x

please help! functions and relations. f(x)= square root of x-4. find the inverse of f(x) and it’s domain.
likoan [24]

ANSWER:

\:D.\text{ }f^{-1}\left(x\right)=\left(x+4\right)^2;x\ge-4

STEP-BY-STEP EXPLANATION:

We have the following equation:

f(x)=\sqrt{x}-4

The inverse is the following (we calculate it by replacing f(x) by x and x by f(x)):

\begin{gathered} x=\sqrt{f^{-1}(x)}-4 \\  \\ \sqrt{f^{-1}(x)}=x+4 \\  \\ f^{-1}(x)=(x+4)^2 \end{gathered}

The domain would be the range of the original equation, and it would be the range of values that f(x) could take, which was from -4 to positive infinity, that is, f(x) ≥ -4.

Therefore, the domain is x ≥ -4.

So the correct answer is D.

\:f^{-1}\left(x\right)=\left(x+4\right)^2;x\ge -4

If the pattern continues how many cups of milk does George need to make 6 batches of muffins
alexdok [17]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

If we consider the differences between consecutive terms, that is

\frac{3}{4} - \frac{3}{8} = \frac{3}{8}

1 \frac{1}{8} - \frac{3}{4} = \frac{3}{8}

1 \frac{1}{2} - 1 \frac{1}{8} = \frac{3}{8}

To obtain the next term in the pattern add \frac{3}{8} to the previous term.

batches = 5 ⇒ milk = 1 \frac{1}{2} + \frac{3}{8} = 1 \frac{7}{8}

batches = 6 ⇒ milk = 1 \frac{7}{8} + \frac{3}{8} = 2 \frac{1}{4}

You multiply a number by 3 subtract 6 then add 2 the results is 20 what's the number
e-lub [12.9K]

You multiply a number by 3 subtract 6 then add 2 the results is 20

what's the number ?

Let the number = x

multiply a number by 3

so, it becomes 3x

subtract 6 , so, 3x - 6

then add 2

so, 3x - 6 + 2

The result will be 20

So,

3x - 6 + 2 = 20

solve for x

3x - 4 = 20

Add 4 to both sides

3x - 4 + 4 = 20 + 4

3x = 24

Divide both sides by 3

3x/3 = 24/3

So,

x = 8
