A billion is a thousand million.

A billion looks like this: 1,000,000,000

So 200 billion looks like this: 200,000,000,000

Four hundred million looks like this: 400,000,000

So what had you asked for?

200,400,000,000. That's an awful lot of digits. If you had this amount of money in pounds, you'd be the richest person in the world by a country mile.

PSYCHO15rus [73]

Answer:

A) \dfrac{11}{23}

B) \dfrac{88}{345}

Step-by-step explanation:

A survey of 46 college athletes found that

  • 24 played volleyball,
  • 22 played basketball.

A) If we pick one athlete survey participant at random,  the probability they play basketball is

P_1=\dfrac{22}{46}=\dfrac{11}{23}

B) If we pick 2 athletes at random (without replacement),

  • the probability we get one volleyball player is \dfrac{24}{46}=\dfrac{12}{23};
  • the probability we get another basketball player is \dfrac{22}{45} (only 45 athletes left).

Thus, the probability we get one volleyball player and one basketball player is

P_2=\dfrac{12}{23}\cdot \dfrac{22}{45}=\dfrac{88}{345}

The following table shows the annual income, in dollars, and amount spent on vacation, in dollars, for a sample of 8 families.
marishachu [46]

Answer:

a. Scatterplot is attached.

b. Positive Correlation

c. Correlation coefficient=0.9219

Step-by-step explanation:

a.

The following procedure will be used to obtain the scatter plot

  •    Open an Google Sheets file online or excel sheet on your computer.
  •    In column B and C, enter  the Income and Vacation data  as provided above.
  •    Select the data > click on insert CHART.
  •    Chose Scatter Chart option
  •    Click OK.

A scatter plot visualizing your data should be displayed as attached.

b.

  • On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
  • Double-click on your scatter plot.
  • At the right, click on Customize  tab and then Series.
  • Scroll down and check the Trend line box

-From the trend line, your notice that your variables have a positive correlation.

-As the income increases, so does vacation expenditure.

c. The correlation coefficient can be calculated as follows.

  • Click on any empty cell in the sheet and enter the formula
  • "=CORREL((y-axis range),(x-axis range))"
  • ENTER

-From our Google Sheets calculation our variables have a positive correlation and the correlation coefficient is 0.9219

-The correlation coefficient,r can also be calculated manually:

-let x be income, and y be vacation and divide all the values by 100 to make the smaller and easier to manipulate:

r=\frac{n(\sum xy)-(\sum x)(\sum y)}{\sqrt{[n\sum x^2-(\sum x)^2][n\sum y^2-(\sum y)^2}}\\\\\\\sum xy=153914\\\sum x=4485\\\sum y=246\\\sum x^2=2878447\\(\sum x)^2=4485^2=20115225\\(\sum y)^2=246^2=60516\\\sum y^2=8392\\n=8\\\\\#substitute \ and \ solve \ for \ r\\\\=\frac{8\times153914-4485\times 246}{\sqrt{[8\times 2878447-4485^2][8\times 8392-246^2]}}\\\\=0.92186\\\\\approx 0.9219

1. When dividing decimals, what must you do if there is a decimal in the divisor?
Aleksandr-060686 [28]
1. you must move the decimal the amount of digits until the divisor is a whole number. This also means that you move the decimal for the dividend too, adding zeros where it is needed.
2. you must first figure out where the decimal is, so that you will find out what place value each digit is, allowing you to add correctly. For example 10.52 + 0.048 = 10.568
3. you determine it by the amount of digits from the right it is, and moving it to the correct place. For example 10.5 x 20.25 = 212.625 (note that for this example, the decimal moved to the left 3 spaces)

hope this helps
