The area of a rectangle is 27ft^2, and the length of the rectangle is 3ft less than twice the width. find the dimensions of the
Elanso [62]
The answer is 4.5.

The formula for a rectangle is A = lw. Substitute the formula, so it'll be 27 = (2x - 3) * x. Evaluate the formula.

Hope this helps you! And rate me to see if I did it right. Thanks!

Gas is escaping from a spherical balloon at the rate of 12 ft3/hr. At what rate (in feet per hour) is the radius of the balloon
bija089 [108]

Answer:

This is the rate at which the radius of the balloon is changing when the volume is 300 ft^3 \frac{dr}{dt}=-\frac{3}{225^{\frac{2}{3}}\pi ^{\frac{1}{3}}} \:\frac{ft}{h}  \approx -0.05537 \:\frac{ft}{h}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let r be the radius and V the volume.

We know that the gas is escaping from a spherical balloon at the rate of \frac{dV}{dt}=-12\:\frac{ft^3}{h} because the volume is decreasing, and we want to find \frac{dr}{dt}

The two variables are related by the equation

V=\frac{4}{3}\pi r^3

taking the derivative of the equation, we get

\frac{d}{dt}V=\frac{d}{dt}(\frac{4}{3}\pi r^3)\\\\\frac{dV}{dt}=\frac{4}{3}\pi (3r^2)\frac{dr}{dt} \\\\\frac{dV}{dt}=4\pi r^2 \frac{dr}{dt}

With the help of the formula for the volume of a sphere and the information given, we find r

V=\frac{4}{3}\pi r^3\\\\300=\frac{4}{3}\pi r^3\\\\r^3=\frac{225}{\pi }\\\\r=\sqrt[3]{\frac{225}{\pi }}

Substitute the values we know and solve for \frac{dr}{dt}

\frac{dV}{dt}=4\pi r^2 \frac{dr}{dt}\\\\\frac{dr}{dt}=\frac{\frac{dV}{dt}}{4\pi r^2} \\\\\frac{dr}{dt}=-\frac{12}{4\pi (\sqrt[3]{\frac{225}{\pi }})^2} \\\\\frac{dr}{dt}=-\frac{3}{\pi \left(\sqrt[3]{\frac{225}{\pi }}\right)^2}\\\\\frac{dr}{dt}=-\frac{3}{\pi \frac{225^{\frac{2}{3}}}{\pi ^{\frac{2}{3}}}}\\\\\frac{dr}{dt}=-\frac{3}{225^{\frac{2}{3}}\pi ^{\frac{1}{3}}} \approx -0.05537 \:\frac{ft}{h}

If x=2y=3z then x:y:z equals what?
Alisiya [41]

Answer: x=6 y=3 z=2

Step-by-step explanation: The question is very vast so im guessing that its just finding 3 whole numbers that can equal the same ammount being multipied by 2 and 3. I chose 6. But theres many others. The answer should be correct because if we replace the letters with the numbers i put in the answer it should look like this: 6=2•3=3•2

When we do simplify this we should get 6=6=6 which is true.

Again you can use different numbers for example 12 as X. Then you need to divide 12 by whats behind the Y. So 12÷2 is 6. So Y is equal to 6. To find Z all you need to do is follow the same steps as Y. Find the number behind Z (3) and divide that into 12. So it would be 12÷3. And if you do the math right it should look like this: X=12, Y=6, Z= 4. And when you imput the numbers to thier corresponding letter it should look like this 12=2(6)=3(4) which simplified looks like 12=12=12 which is true.
