WWI ended the Austro-Hungarian, the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire.

In fact the <u>Russian Empire was substituted by the Soviet Russia</u> (and subsequently by the Soviet Union), after the success of the October Revolution in 1917 led by the Bolshevik party and by Vladimir Lenin. It removed the former Tsarist empire.

On the other hand, the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman Empires were dismantled after they had sided with Germany in WWI and hence, were defeated.
