Solve x 2 - 8x + 3 = 0 by completing the square. Which equation is used in the process? A. ( x - 4) 2 = 0 B. ( x - 4) 2 = 11 C.
neonofarm [45]
Gruop x terms
(x²-8x)+3=0
take 1/2 of linear coefient and square it
-8/2=-4, (-4)^2=16
add negative and positive inside
(x²-8x+16-16)+3=0
factor perfect square
((x-4)²-16)+3=0
expand
(x-4)²-16+3=0
(x-4)²-13=0
add 13 both sides
(x-4)²=13

answer is C

The function y = [x] is defined as follows: for any input x, the output is the smallest integer that is greater than or equal to
bija089 [108]
For the integer values of the interval <span>-2 ≤ x ≤ 2, that is for {-2, -1, 0, 1, 2}, the function works as follows:
</span>
[-2]=-2,    [-1]=-1    [0]=0    [1]=1    [2]=2,

as each of    -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 is smaller or equal to themselves.

Each value in between, produces the integer to their right.

For example, [1,25]=2, because 2 is the smallest integer, greater than 1,25.

Thus, the output of each non-integer value is the closest integer to the right. Some more examples:

[0,7]=1, [0.46]=1, [-0,5]=0, [-1,33]=-1.

The graph is as shown in the picture.

Four times a number increased by 3 is the same as twice the number increased by 9? I'm horrible at these
Anna71 [15]
The question says:
4(x) +3 = 2(x) + 9
so now you need to find x
first you should add -2(x) on both sides of the equation and then add -3 on both sides:
4(x) - 2(x) = 9 - 3
2(x) = 6
now you can divide both sides by 2:
x = 6/2
x = 3 :)))
I hope this is helpful
have a nice day
