247 students went on a field trip. six buses were filled and 7 students traveled in cars. How many students were in each bus ?
Nuetrik [128]

from all the 247 students, 7 went on by cars, meaning they didn't fit in the buses, so they students that went in the buses are 247 - 7 = 240.

now, we know there were 6 buses, so dividing 240 evenly by 6, 240/6 = 40.

Two altitudes of a triangle have lengths $12$ and $14$. What is the longest possible integer length of the third altitude
nataly862011 [7]

The longest possible altitude of the third altitude (if it is a positive integer) is 83.

According to statement

Let h is the length of third altitude

Let a, b, and c be the sides corresponding to the altitudes of length 12, 14, and h.

From Area of triangle

A = 1/2*B*H

Substitute the values in it

A = 1/2*a*12

a = 2A / 12 -(1)

Then

A = 1/2*b*14

b = 2A / 14 -(2)

Then

A = 1/2*c*h

c = 2A / h -(3)

Now, we will use the triangle inequalities:

  • a < b+c

2A/12 < 2A/14 + 2A/h

Solve it and get

h<84

  • b < a+c

2A/14 < 2A/12 + 2A/h

Solve it and get

h > -84

  • c < a+b

2A/h < 2A/12 + 2A/14

Solve it and get

h > 6.46

From all the three inequalities we get:

6.46<h<84

So, the longest possible altitude of the third altitude (if it is a positive integer) is 83.

Find the 7th term in the sequence -10,-6,-2,2...
jeyben [28]

1st term = -10

2nd term = -6

3rd term = -2

4th term = 2

5th term = 6

6th term = 10

7th term = 14

The reason how I got 14 for the 7th term is because, i added 4 to each term.

Hope this helps!

1. 10(.15)=1.5
Fed [463]

Answer:

6.14125(0.15) = 0.9211875 (below 1)

6.14125 - 0.92118 = 5.22007

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

1. 10(.15)=1.5

2. 10-1.5=8.5

3. 8.5 (.15)=1.275

4. 8.5-1.275=7.225

continuation the sequence

5)    7.225 (0.15) = 1.08375

6)    7.225 -  1.08375 = 6.14125

7)   6.14125(0.15) = 0.9211875   (below -one)

8 )  6.14125 - 0.9211875 = 5.2200625 (get number 5)

9)   5.2200625(0.15) = 0.783009

10) 5.2200625 - 0.783009 = 4.4370532
