7)

6x+4y=14 and -8x-4y=-12

If we add these two equations together we have:

6x-8x+4y-4y=14-12  combine like terms

-2x=2  divide both sides by -2

x=-1, use either origina equation to solve for y, 6x+4y=14 becomes:

6(-1)+4y=14

-6+4y=14  add 6 to both sides

4y=20  divide both sides by 4

y=5

So the solution to the system of equations is:

x=-1, y=5

8)

2x+3y=50 and 4x-2y=4

-2(2x+3y=50)+(4x-2y=4)

(-4x-6y=-100)+(4x-2y=4)

-8y=-96  divide both sides by -8

y=12, making 4x-2y=4 become:

4x-2(12)=4

4x-24=4

4x=28

x=7

So the solution to the system of equations is:

x=7, y=12

These questions are just a way of saying it's a two system equation. You can go about this by elimination for both of them.
-8x - 4y = -12
+ 6x + 4y = 14
---------------------
-2x = 2
/-2
x=-1
Since A is the only answer with x=-1, you technically don't have to solve for y but it is still a good idea to plug x into one of the equations and solve for y.

2x + 3y = 50
+ 4x -2y = 4
-----------------
multiply the top equation by -2 so you can eliminate your x's
-4x - 6y = -100
+4x - 2y = 4
------------------
-8y = -96
/-8
y=12
Once again, your first answer is the only one with y=12 but you should still go back through and plug things in to double check!

Choose which equation(s) demonstrate the Distributive Property:
Butoxors [25]

Hey there! I'm happy to help!

The distributive property is when you multiply a number outside the parentheses by each term inside. We see this demonstrated in answer D) 6n-6=6(n-1).

6(n-1) can be undistributed. 6(n)=6n and 6(-1)=-6, giving us 6n-6, which is still equal to 6(n-1).

Have a wonderful day! :D

Write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line that passes through the given point and is parallel to the graph of the g
kow [346]
Parallel lines have the same slope. Hence, using the base equation of y=mx+b, plug in the given value for y and the given value for x into the equation y=-2x+b to solve for b:
-7=-2(-5)+b
-7=10+b
b=-17
Hence the equation would be y=-2x-17<span />
