Answer: 14.1 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi, since the situation forms a right triangle (see attachment) we have to apply the trigonometric functions.

cos α = adjacent side / hypotenuse

Where α is the angle of elevation of the ladder to the ground, the hypotenuse is the longest side of the triangle (in this case is the length of the ladder), and the adjacent side (x) is the distance from the base of the building to the bottom of the ladder

Replacing with the values given:

cos 62 = x/ 30

Solving for x

cos62 (30) =x

x= 14.1 feet

The average rate of change of f(x)=3x+9 is 9. true or false?
MA_775_DIABLO [31]
The rate of change is the slope.
f(x) is the same as y...
f(x) = 3x + 9.....y = 3x + 9....and in y = mx + b form, the rate of change(slope) can be found in the m position.

y = mx + b
y = 3x + 9....so the slope or rate of change is 3...not 9...so answer is false

Find the area of the trapezoid.
lozanna [386]

Check the picture below.

\textit{area of a trapezoid}\\\\ A=\cfrac{h(a+b)}{2}~~ \begin{cases} h=height\\ a,b=\stackrel{parallel}{sides}\\[-0.5em] \hrulefill\\ h=8\\ a=14\\ b=8 \end{cases}\implies \begin{array}{llll} A=\cfrac{8(14+8)}{2}\implies A=4(22) \\\\\\ A=88 \end{array}
