A decrease in the size of the substance when cooling is the Thermal Contraction.

Explanation:

The contraction or the shrinkage of any substance when they cool is called as "Thermal Contraction". The properties of any substance changes physically when there is a change in the temperature. There occurs some expansion or contraction of substances when they are exposed to the changes in the temperature.

All substance will tend to expand when they are heated and they will shrink or contract when they are cooled. This occurs due to the fact that when the temperature changes, the energy levels of these substances also changes. Thus when we cool any substance, then it will lose heat energy as a result of which the atoms that are present in that substance will move slow and closely.

Mendel observed phenotypic traits during the cross of pea plants. Subsequently, he noted each trait had only two forms.

Mendel's Experiments

Mendel crossed pure-breeding pea plants, and then he crossed hybrid generations, as well crossed the hybrid progeny back to parental lines.

From these crosses, Mendel observed the descendence and then formulated a series of inheritance principles.

Mendel noted traits can be divided into dominant and recessive phenotypic characteristics.

Dominant characteristics were inherited in an unaltered manner after hybridization of true breeding [plants.
