Answer: The sentences that are<u> correctly punctuated:</u>

  • No, we will not be able to go.
  • After I finish my homework, I will watch the high school football game.
  • Reggie likes to play football, of course.
  • John, the captain of our football team, dislocated his shoulder.

Explanation:

The sentences that are<u> incorrectly punctuated:</u>

  • <em><u>Cold and wet we rushed to warm ourselves around the fire.</u></em>

This sentence is not correctly punctuated, as there needs to be a coma after the opening of the sentence (adjectival phrase). When we have an opening adjective at the beginning of the sentence, we must always put a coma after it. The correct punctuation of the sentence would be: <em>Cold and wet</em><em>, </em><em>we rushed to warm ourselves around the fire.</em>

  • <u><em>Mark likes to play tennis and I like to play soccer.</em></u>

When we join two independent clauses by using a conjunction 'and', we must always place a comma before the conjunction. The correct punctuation is, therefore: <em>Mark likes to play tennis</em><em>,</em><em> and I like to play soccer.</em>

  • <u><em>When we board the bus Frank looks for a seat by a window.</em></u>

When a dependent clause is found at the beginning of the sentence and is followed by an independent clause, we must always put a comma after the dependent clause. The correct punctuation of the sentence is: <em>When we board the bus</em><em>,</em><em> Frank looks for a seat by a window.</em>

How did Orwell's experiences in the Spanish Civil War influence him to write Animal Farm?
Travka [436]

Answer:

George Orwell changed during the Spanish Civil war. The influence of the war was so strong, that he felt hate to communism and those feelings he demonstrates in Animal farm. He demonstrates the irony of pigs’ actions that do the opposite of what the mayor ordered them to do. He sows pigs as self-serving.

Explanation:

Pigs indulge many luxury things, even though they criticized men:

"<em>And remember also that in fighting against Man we must not come to resemble him. Even when you have conquered him, do not adopt his vices. No animal must ever live in a house, or sleep in a bed, or wear clothes, or drink alcohol, or smoke tobacco, or touch money, or engage in trade..."</em>

cricket20 [7]

Answer:

Enrique, on his journey, went through many fearful situations. The resolution of the plot is that in the end he finally found his mother. The author's point of view was to tell you the story of one boy's journey so that we would have a better understanding of immigration. There were many human rights issues that took place. People were beaten, robbed, raped and had little food to eat. The author wanted people who read her nook to see what immigrants went through to find their family or just a better way to live.
