Trifles is a one act play written by American writer, journalist Susan Glaspell. It tells the story of Mrs. Wright, a woman whose behavior leads to finding her dead husband in her own house. Mrs. Hale is one of the characters and also one of her neighbors, and the County Attorney is in charge of the case.

Since the play is about why Mrs. Wright killed her husband (apparently because of a bird the man had killed), the events show that the woman was abused by Mr. Wright, and, even though there are proves that she killed him, people around her prefer to hide them since they believe it was reasonable to kill Mr. Wright. So, if Mrs. Wright hadn't done anything, her husband would've continued abusing her; on the other hand, if all the facts had seen the light, she would've gone to jail, indicating that she would've suffered anyways due to the male-dominated society.
