The map scale is 6 in : 36 mi

simplify it, divide 6 from both sides

6/6 = 1
36/6 = 6

1 in : 6 mi

To find the amount of inches in 52 miles, divide 52 with 6

52/6 = 8.67 (rounded)

8.67 in should be your answer

hope this helps
