Hi there! ~

So lets get right into this equation.

First off is says "She could take Valerie's grade, multiply it by 2 and subtract 15"

We are going to use this sentence of information to determine our final answer.

We don't know Valerie's actual grade, so lets label it as, x.

Now it says we have to multiply Valerie's unknown grade (x) and multiply it by 2.

So we get 2x (Or, 2*x)

Now we "subtract by 15"

So

2x - 15

Is our final answer.

The value of y is directly proportional to the value of x when x=512 y=128 what is the value of y when x=64
luda_lava [24]
Answer: y=16
explanation: y=128 when x=512, so to get the value of y, you need to divide 512/64=8. dividing 512(x) by 8 times gets 64, so you need to divide 8 on the other side(y). 128/8=16. hope this helped!

Find f(x) and g(x) so that the function can be described as y = f(g(x)).<br><br> y = 4/x^2+9
dlinn [17]

I'm assuming all of (x^2+9) is in the denominator. If that assumption is correct, then,

One possible answer is f(x) = \frac{4}{x}, \ \ g(x) = x^2+9

Another possible answer is f(x) = \frac{4}{x+9}, \ \ g(x) = x^2

There are many ways to do this. The idea is that when we have f( g(x) ), we basically replace every x in f(x) with g(x)

So in the first example above, we would have

f(x) = \frac{4}{x}\\\\f( g(x) ) = \frac{4}{g(x)}\\\\f( g(x) ) = \frac{4}{x^2+9}

In that third step, g(x) was replaced with x^2+9 since g(x) = x^2+9.

Similar steps will happen with the second example as well (when g(x) = x^2)
