So that it can protect exposed tissue, a layer of meristematic cells, cork cambium, or phellogen rises from the cortex.

The cells of phellogen divide and create new cells. On both sides towards the cortex are parenchymatous, they form a secondary cortex or phelloderm while the cells on the outside of the phelloderm are rectangular and arranged in radial rows. They secrete suberin inside their wall then die off. These cork tissues functions as a barrier of sorts to protect the plant from outside threats.

Suberin - Waxy substance

Parenchymatous - The basic tissue of plants

HELP! Me!
OLEGan [10]

Answer:

They camouflage

Explanation:

The peppered moths adapt to their surroundings. They blend in with their surroundings to avoid being eaten by their predators. Blending in with their surrounding also helps them to sneak up on and catch their prey.

I'm not too sure why they lay 100 eggs at a time but i think it's because the parents want to increase the survival of their eggs. Eggs sometimes are eaten by other animals and the parents want at least a few to survive.

leonid [27]

ANSWER:  C, the continents were at one time joined together.

REASONING: Alfred Wegener was the first person to propose the scientific theory of Continental Drift.  Continental Drift is a theory that supposes all the continents were at one time joined together as one large land mass.  The mechanisms of continental drift can be explained by Plate Tectonics.
