It was the main cause because the british put taxes on everything for example the stamp act which meant that from letters to playing cards had a stamp. But the biggets tax was the tax on tea which led to the british tea party that is when the sons of liberty dressed as indians and dumped the equivelent of 3 million dollars of british tea and that started the war <span />
