9 divided by 16 and please explain on how to get the answer

9/16 without a calculator would be 0.5625. Because you are trying to divide a small number by a larger number, your quotient will come out to be less than 1. what you do is create the dividing table 16/9. Clearly 16 cant go into 9 one full time. so you add a decimal and 0 to the end of 9: 16/9.0. this doesn't change the value of 9 but you can now divide it as if it were 90. Just remember to put the decimal into the correct place. until you have no more remainders, continue to add zeros to the end of your dividend.

How many times does 9 go into 16 without going over? Well, 9x2=18 That doesn't work... So, 9 goes into 16 1 time. You subject 16 by 9 and your answer is the remainder so the answer will be 1remainder 6 :) hope that helped
