So slope intercept form is y=mx+b
m=slope b=y intercept
convert current equation to slpe intercept
y-4=x-8
add 4 to both sides
y=x-4

Using the y1-y2 and x1-x2 method, take 4-2, over, 8-0= 1/4. (m=1/2, or slope)
Then just use any of the coordinates to plug in the equation. y=mx+b

4=1/4(8)+b
4=2+b
b=2

Thus, your final equation is y= 1/4x+2

At a speed of 50 miles per hour, a certain car uses 1 gallon of gasoline every 30 miles. if the car starts with a full 12 gallon
Black_prince [1.1K]
1 gallon = 30 miles

5 hours = 250 miles
250 \div 30 = 8 \frac{1}{3}
Fraction of amount of gasoline used =
\frac{ \frac{25}{3} }{12}  \\  =  \frac{25}{3}  \times  \frac{1}{12} \\  =  \frac{25}{36}
Answer is 25/36

Hope this helps. - M
