The Kikuyu society was influenced by many factors.

Kikuyu are the most populous ethnic group in Kenya. They cultivate the fertile central mountainous areas and are Kenya's most economically active ethnic group.

The Kikuyu family was based in the social structure of clans. Males were incorporated into the groups for initiation. They are a strong unity.

They represented a defense against enemies, it was structured in 9 clans.
