Explanation:  The Common Sense pamphlet was written by Thomas Paine to encourage colonists to fight for America's independence from Great Britain. It was written in 1775-76 and targeted ordinary people who were in fact the driving force of the Revolution, who only needed encouragement. One of the aims of the fight against Britain was an egalitarian government, given that different taxes were imposed on the colonists before the Revolution and put them at a unequal position compared to, say, British soldiers, when those same colonists were still under British patronage.
