If the line is perpendicular to x = 4, then that means the answer should be y = some number

and since we have the equation going through point (5,7), we look at the y-value since our equation is y=some number and replace the y-value into that equation.

So the correct answer is C. y = 7

Hope that helps :)

Since there are infinite possible answers we will just make our way through the given answers.

A: Imagine the line for the equation Y=4, it is a straight horizontal line going through every value of x but only one value of Y because it doesn't get any higher or lower. So Y=4 can not be the answer because Y never = 7.

B: Do the same thing and imagine this line. It is a vertical line on the point of X = 5. This one does cross though (5,7) but it is not perpendicular to X= 4 so is not the answer.

C: Crosses through (5,7) and is perpendicular to x = 4. correct answer.

A bolt falls off an airplane at an altitude of 500 m. How long will it take the bolt to reach
Rudik [331]

Answer:

t = sqrt(500/4.9) =~ 10.1 seconds/ Answer: 10.1015 seconds (this is approximate)

Step-by-step explanation:

Use 4.9t^2 + v0t = s

a) A bolt falls off an airplane at an altitude of 500 m. Approximately how long does it take the bolt to reach the ground?

s = 4.9t^2 + v0t = 500

4.9t^2 = 500

t = sqrt(500/4.9) =~ 10.1 seconds

Part A)

v = initial velocity = 0

s = 500 = vertical distance the object travels (from plane to ground)

Plug in the given values and solve for t

4.9t^2 + v*t = s

4.9t^2 + 0*t = 500

4.9t^2 + 0 = 500

4.9t^2 = 500

t^2 = 500/4.9

t^2 = 102.04081632653

t = sqrt(102.04081632653)

t = 10.101525445522

t = 10.1015

Answer: 10.1015 seconds (this is approximate)

Which value for x makes the sentence true?

2.45 + x = 3.64
Scrat [10]

Answer:

1.19

Step-by-step explanation:

You're trying to figure out what x is here.

So you'll want to isolate the x. That means, get it alone.

Since both sides are equivalent, when you subtract 2.45 from the x side, you also subtract it from the other side too.

x = 3.64 - 2.45

x = 1.19
