Which perfect square equation represents x^2+4x+1=0 by completing the square?

First thing to do is to move the constant over to the other side of the equals sign. Then we will complete the square on the x terms. We will take half the linear term, square it, then add it to both sides. Our linear term is 4. Half of 4 is 2, and 2 squared is 4. x^2+4x+4=-1+4. In the process of completing the square we have created a perfect square binomial on the left which is (x+2)^2=3. A is our answer.

Marta is making a scale drawing of her apartment for a school project. The apartment is 28ft wide. On her drawing, the apartment
ivolga24 [154]

Answer:

The scale is 1 inch rep 4 feet or

1:4

Step-by-step explanation:

This problem is on ratios, the ratio of one quantity to another is a way to represent their relative size.

Moreso, the scale of a drawing tells us to what extent the drawing has been increased (maximized) or decresed (minimized)

now given that the actual dimention of the appartmentis 28ft wide

and on the drawing the apartment is 7 inches wide, we can see that the actual dimension has been reduced by a factor of 28/7= 4

hence the scale to represent this reduction is

1 inch to represent 4 feet

Fred, Norman, and Dave own a total of 128 comic books. If Dave owns 44 of them, what is the average
iren [92.7K]

Answer:

Mean = 42

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Represent Fred with F; Norman with N and Dave with D.

Total = 128

D = 44

Required

Determine the arithmetic mean of F and N

First, we have that:

F + N + D = 128

Substitute 44 for D

F + N + 44 = 128

Subtract 44 from both sides

F + N + 44 - 44 = 128 - 44

F + N = 84

Arithmetic mean of F and N is calculated as follows:

Mean = \frac{F + N}{2}

Mean = \frac{84}{2}

Mean = 42
