 <span>The fifth power of ten would not be represented.
Each individual digit would be shown as a power of ten.
982 would be the sum of:
9 times 100. (100 is 10 to the second power)
plus
8 times 10. (10 is 10 to the first power.)
plus
2 times 1. (I is 10 to the zero power.)

The only significant digit represented by a zero is the "hundred thousands"
(100,000 is 10 to the fifth power.)</span>

The stopping distance for a boat in calm water is modelled by the function d(v) = 0.004v2 + 0.2v + 6, where d(v) is in metres an
777dan777 [17]

Answer:

a. 8.4 km  b. 20 km/hr or 20,000 m/hr

Step-by-step explanation:

This is your polynomial:

d(v)=.004v^2+.2v+6

The important thing to realize is that d(v) is the distance it takes for the boat to stop.  That will come later, in part b. Besides that, we also need to remember that v is velocity, which is speed, in km/hr.

For part a. we are looking for d(v), the stopping distance, when v = 10.  That means that we will sub in a 10 for each v in the function and solve for d(v):

d(10)=.004(10)^2+.2(10)+6 so

d(10) = 8.4 km

Now comes the part I was referring to above.  Part b is asking us the speed of the boat if it takes 11.6 meters to stop.  If d(v) is the stopping distance, we sub 11.6 in for d(v) in the function:

11.6=.004v^2+.2v+6

The only way w can solve this for velocity is to get everything on one side of the equals sign, set the polynomial equal to 0, then plug the values into the quadratic formula.

0=.004v^2+.2v-5.6

Plugging that into the quadratic formula gives you 2 values of velocity:

v = 20 km/hr and -70 km/hr

We all know that neither time nor distance in math will EVER be negative so we can discount the negative number.  However, I believe that you asked for the distance in meters, so 20 km/hr is the same as 20,000 m/hr.

HELP MEEE ON THIS MATH PLSSS
xeze [42]
The answer to your question is the first option, which includes the points (3,6) and (5,10). We know that this is the answer because the two numbers, if set up in fractional form, are proportional. Additionally, the two points like on the same line in the graph. Hope this helps!!

What is the value of x?<br> Please explain...
docker41 [41]
Answer:
X=14

Explanation:
The question tells us that the triangle is an equilateral triangle, meaning all of its side lengths are equal.

The perimeter of the triangle is all the lengths added together, so we can say this:

Perimeter=3(1.75x-2)

And since the question tells us the perimeter, we can input that into the equation as well.

67.5= 3(1.75x-2)

And now we solve:

67.5= 3(1.75x-2)
Distribute 3 into the parentheses
67.5=5.25x-6
Combine like terms (move -6 to the other side)
67.6+6=5.25x
73.6=5.25x
Divide both sides by 5.25
73.6/5.25=5.25x/5.25
14=x

I hope this helps! Please comment if you have any questions.
