Zhang thinks that the value of a baseball card can be modeled by exponential decay and that the value will decrease at a rate of

0.2% each year. The card was originally valued at $250 in 2007. What would Zhang expect the card to be in 2018? Round the value of the card to the nearest cent. Show all work

Answer: $244.55

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that the exponential decay function is  given by :-

f(t)=A(1-r)^t , where r is the rate of decay ( in decimal ) , A is the initial amount and t is time period.

Given : A = $250  ;  r=0.002   t= 11   [From 2007 to 2018 , t=2018-2007]

Then, the expected value of card in 2018 :-

f(11)=250(1-0.002)^{11}\\\\\Rightarrow\ f(11)=250(0.978218685265)\\\\\Rightarrow\ f(11)=244.554671316\approx244.55

Hence,Zhang expect the card to be $244.55 in 2018.

The correct answer would be
$249.45
2018 - 2007 = 11
11 x 0.2% = 0.22%
0.22% of 250 = 0.55
250 - 0.55 = 249.45
$249.45

the volume of a cylinder is given by the formula v=3.14r^2h, where r is the radius of the cylinder and h is the height. suppose
photoshop1234 [79]

we know that

The volume of a cylinder is given by the formula

V=3.14 r^{2} h

where

r is the radius of the cylinder

h is the height of the cylinder

in this problem

r=x+8\\h=2x+3

Substitute the values in the formula above

V=3.14*(x+8)^{2}*(2x+3)

V=3.14*(x^{2}+16x+64)*(2x+3) \\ V=3.14 *(2x^{3} +3x^{2} +32x^{2} +48x+128x+192)\\ V=3.14*(2x^{3} +35x^{2} +176x+192)

therefore

<u>the answer is</u>

The volume of the can is equal to

V=3.14 *(2x^{3} +35x^{2} +176x+192)\ units ^{3}

2.5 What is the difference between relational understanding and instrumental
Afina-wow [57]

Answer:

Instrumental understanding – having a mathematical rule and being able to apply and manipulate it. Relational understanding – having a mathematical rule, knowing how to use it AND knowing why it works.

Step-by-step explanation:

Instrumental understanding involves “memorising which problems a method works for and which not, and also learning a different method for each new class of problems” (Skemp 1987, p. 159), is a desire to know “some kind of rule for getting the answer” (p. 155) so that a student can “latch on it and ignore the rest”

Convert 0.6 to a fraction to a percent and show a example how
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]

Answer:

6/10   |    60%

Step-by-step explanation:

0.6 is the same as 6/10 because it is six-tenths.

6/10 is the percentage 60% because you can multiply the top and bottom by ten to get 100 on the bottom.
