7. B)Hawley-Smoot Tariff

Known as a protectionist trade policy, this means that the trading in the market will try to "protect" and give priority to the national commerce, this could work, but countries take a risk when doing it because other countries now that they´re rooting for the national commerce and stop trading with them, basically, you stop buying merchandise from other countries, but they also stop buying from you.

With the power of URSS North American countries and European countries formed this alliance to try and protect themselves from a possible invasion from the sovietics.

This is more commonly known as puppet state, and it´s when another country has such controll over some country that they actually just obbey the other country, this happend a lot with eastern europe countries, and the Soviet Union.

Why did the United States fail to reach a compromise on slavery? Was there a solution other than war?
Assoli18 [71]
The US had many attempts at compromise with varying levels of sucess before the Civil War. However, when Lincoln was elected president (on the platform of stopping the expansion of slavery), the South lost hope and seceded.
There is always a solution other than war, however, in this case, war had been a looming possibility for quite some time, and compromise probably would've only pushed the war back a year or two.
Hope this helps :)
