Meiosis takes in the capsule of the Bryophytes. Meiosis actually happens in the little sporophyte stage of the Bryophytes. The sporophyte is attached and also depends a lot on the larger gametophyte stage. The sporophyte has a foot, a capsule and a stalk like region named Seta. The capsules release the spores helping in the reproductive system. For the purpose of reproduction, the Bryophytes require a very thin film of water for the sperms to swim across and fertilize the eggs.
